Retries & replay

Policy

• A delivery succeeds on any 2xx within 10 seconds. Anything else is retried.
• Retries after 1 min, 5 min, 30 min, 2 h, 6 h, 12 h, 24 h and 24 h: nine attempts over about three days.
• Deliveries are stored with the state change, so a restart never loses one.
• Every retry carries the same event id.
• Private-network and cloud-metadata URLs are rejected, and redirects are not followed.

Endpoint health

After 24 hours of continuous failures your organization is emailed. After three days and at least 20 failed attempts in a row the endpoint is disabled and you are emailed again. Fix the receiver, re-enable it with PATCH /webhooks/:id {"isActive": true}, then catch up from /events.

Replay and resend

• GET /webhooks/:id/deliveries?status=failed lists deliveries that exhausted their retries.
• POST /webhooks/:id/deliveries/:deliveryId/replay sends one again now.
• POST /events/:id/resend delivers an event to one endpoint or to every subscribed endpoint.
• POST /webhooks/:id/test sends a livemode: false test event.
